Happy News! Due to the efforts of Campaign Scientific's Pennsylvania Election Transparency Project, the Department of State of Pennsylvania has dropped its voter file prices to a flat fee of $20 total (plus tax) for any or all of the counties, as of July 12, 2006.
Supplies needed:
- A pen.
- Your photo ID or your PA drivers license number.
- A photocopier or scanner.
- A check for $20, made out to "Commonwealth of Pennsylvania."
- The official request form.
Procedure:
- Read the Affirmation carefully and make sure you understand it. Voter files contain personal information, and their uses are restricted by law. In particular, you may not publish voter files on the internet.
- Fill out the personal information at the bottom half of the first page. Don't forget to sign! If your ID is a PA drivers license, enter the drivers license number, but there is (usually) no need to send an image. If you are using another type of ID, it is probably wise to send an image of the ID.
- At the top of the second page, indicate which of the four kinds of files you want. For the most data possible, request a "Full Voter Export."
- On the second page in the middle, indicate which counties you want data for. If you want a Full Voter Export for the entire state, enter "D" next to "All Counties" at the bottom of the third column. li>
- Mail your request, with the check, to: Voter Registration Division, 210 North Office Building, Harrisburg, PA 17120.
And if you would like help extracting information from the file or managing your data, don't hesitate to contact Campaign Scientific!
